Since Bitmojis were introduced, Snapchat’s Snap Map has become a lot more interactive and fun. The map feature on Snapchat allows your friends to see where you are and what you are doing when using the app.
One of the first things that affects Bitmoji attitudes is your current location. Where you are has a lot to do with how your avatar looks. Take airports for example. When you are near or at the airport, your cartoon character changes and you show him that he is traveling with luggage or even boarding a plane.
If you’re driving, your Bitmoji is probably driving on the Snap Map as well. But it’s not just actions and locations that change the Bitmoji’s pose. The time of day also has an influence.
You will notice that a period of inactivity while the app is still running can change the attitude of your Bitmoji to a person sleeping in an armchair.
Your Snapchat avatar can be easily created and customized by downloading the Bitmoji app from the App Store or Google Play Store. The app allows you to change the hairstyles, eye color, body type, accessories, clothes and all the things that make your character unique.
To use these Avatars, you need to download the app and log in with your Snapchat credentials. The app will guide you through this process. If you haven’t created your Bitmoji yet, do so in the Bitmoji app, then tap the profile option in Snapchat and tap Bitmoji . to add.
Once set up, your Snapchat profile will reflect the cartoon version of you!
Choose who can see your location
Snapchat lets you choose whether people can see where you are or not. Making your location private to other users also changes the look of your Bitmoji. It is displayed on the map with a white road sign covering the face. This is also known as “Ghost Mode”.
- Go to your Snap Map and tap the Settings icon.
- Switch Ghost mode to drop off.
You can also make it so that only a few people see where you are and what you are doing on the snap map.
- instead of selecting Ghost modetap on My friends, except… or Only these friends… of the same Settings page. You can then grant access to only some of your friends.
If you want others to see your avatar and any neat poses you select in the future, you need to get out of “Ghost Mode”.
Change your Bitmoji attitude
While you can’t mimic certain activities, you can change your avatar to do fun or unique things within Snapchat. For example, you can turn your Bitmoji into drinking a whole pot of coffee for fun! You can also change your outfits from Snapchat.
To customize your Bitmoji within Snapchat, follow these steps:
- Open Snapchat and tap you Bitmoji in the top left corner.
- Scroll down to Snap Map and tap it.
- If necessary, tap Enable location – Please note that you can choose to share your location only with certain friends and contacts by clicking the Gear settings in the pop-up window.
- Tap your avatar on the map.
- Scroll through the list of available options – there are many options!
- Tap the one that suits you!
If you want to do more than just poses, you can! Did you know that aside from all the options we’ve already discussed, you can change your avatar’s selfie? At the time of writing, you can add a face mask, animal ears, and other fun or funny additions to your cartoon characters’ faces.
To change your selfie:
- Tap you Bitmoji in the top left corner of Snapchat.
- On the next screen, tap your Bitmoji again and select Change selfie from the pop-up menu.
- Tap the selfie that suits you.
The new selfie is instantly uploaded to Snap Maps for all your friends to see.
How does the app track your activities?
Thanks to the complex nature of today’s smartphones, it’s very easy for apps to track you.
How does Snapchat know you’re flying? It looks at the height readings. When you’re above a certain altitude, it decides you need to fly and it will change your Bitmoji’s pose to show it flying in an airplane.
The app can also determine how fast you are traveling on the ground. If you move constantly and at high speeds, the app realizes that you may be driving, so it will put your Snap Map avatar in a car. This is somewhat funny because you could ride a bike at high speed and the app can still show you as riding.
There is one particular Bitmoji pose that confuses some users, and that is the sleeping Bitmoji. How Can Snapchat Detect You’re Sleeping? It’s not like it can track your heart rate or brain waves.
This has to do with how long you’ve been inactive. If there is no activity on the Snap Map and on Snapchat for more than an hour, the Bitmoji’s pose assumes a resting position and the “Zzz” indicator.
However, this only happens when you are inactive on the app and map. The “Zzz” attitude is also not displayed when you close the app. If you are not on Snapchat, the Bitmoji will simply disappear from the Snap Map after a while.
Assuming you already have Bitmoji installed, bring up Snapchat interface.
- Tap you Bitmoji in the top left corner of Snapchat.
- Tap the Settings (gear) icon in the upper right corner.
- Below the My bill section, select Bitmoji.
- Choose between Get changed and Edit my bitmoji.
Changing the Bitmoji selfie will change the appearance of your Bitmoji on your Snapchat interface. You can use it to express your mood as all selfie options include different facial expressions.
Making changes to Bitmoji’s outfit is self-explanatory. Snapchat gives you a list of at least 100 different outfits and outfit combinations.
Bitmojis – Fun and scary at the same time
Privacy is one of the top concerns for most social media users today. The addition of Snap Maps raised many concerns about location privacy and the dangers of letting others know your location. While Bitmojis are fun and you’ll want to show them off to everyone, it’s important to remember that not everyone is your friend.
Whether you’ve set your Snapchat profile to “Ghost Mode” or you’re open to showing everyone where you are and what you’re doing, you need to be careful.
