The Obi-Datti Media Office has rioted in defense of Balogun Akin Osuntokun’s appointment as director general of his presidential campaign.

This comes hours after the Labor Party’s former national publicity secretary Abayomi Arabambi demanded that the appointment be annulled because it had been made fraudulently.

Osuntokun’s appointment followed the resignation of Dr. Doyin Okupe out of office.

In a statement signed by Diran Onifade, the head of Obi-Datti’s Media Campaign Council, in Abuja on Wednesday, the LP PCC rejected Arabambi’s claims describing him as a saboteur who made the bid of the party’s opponents.

Onifade explained that “Prior to what is an increase in campaign structure, Osuntokun was the Southwest Coordinator of the campaign in whichever position he has served.

“The truth is that Osuntokun once expressed interest in running for Senate, but such a decision was invariably abandoned, favoring the national movement for a formidable third force to save Nigeria, for which Peter Obi is the symbol of an unprecedented national coalition.

“Osuntokun has thus not taken any steps towards the realization of any senatorial ambition and will not be deterred in the national mission to save Nigeria through the OBIDATTI movement.

“The new position of the Director General is the continuation at the national level of the same objective in the Southwest zone.

“Please note that Abayomi Arabambi is no longer the National Publicity Secretary of the Workers’ Party.

“He is a saboteur serving the interests of a generous paymaster outside the party. We insist that he be treated as such in the future.”
