The NBA suspended Detroit Pistons guard Killian Hayes for three games and Orlando Magic center Moritz Wagner for two games on Thursday, while nine other players received one-game suspensions after a massive scuffle during a game the day before.
Pistons guard Hamidou Diallo was handed a one-game suspension and eight Magic players will also serve suspensions of that length.
Guards Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton, Gary Harris and Kevon Harris; attackers Admiral Schofield and Franz Wagner; and centers Mo Bamba and Wendell Carter Jr are suspended for one game each.
Wagner, Hayes and Diallo were all ejected after a shoving game that had both benches on fire in the second quarter of the Pistons’ 121-101 victory over the Magic.
The Pistons were leading by nine when the incident was sparked by Magic forward Wagner, who pushed Hayes off the field while chasing a loose ball down the sideline.
Diallo ran in and shoved Wagner from behind, then Hayes hit Wagner in the back of the head, sending him sprawling onto the Pistons bench.
Hayes will begin his three-game suspension and Diallo will serve his one-game suspension on Friday when the Pistons visit the Chicago Bulls at United Center.
Wagner’s two-game suspension begins Friday when the Magic host the Washington Wizards at Amway Center.
The one-game suspensions imposed on the eight Magic players for leaving the bench during an altercation will be staggered to ensure, under league rule, that Orlando has eight healthy players available to play in the next two matches.
