However, as Christians, we bear witness to God’s goodness and faithfulness in 2022, given the unscrupulous attempts of criminal elements wielding sophisticated weaponry to claim our lives and freedom, as well as the steady decline of the national economy.

“In the midst of these challenges, 2023 is a year of golden opportunity for us as a people. I pray that Nigerians will not miss or abuse the opportunity to elect leaders with focus and compassion who will lead our country to greatness.

“I make a strong appeal to our security services not to give in to their efforts to ensure safety and security in our country; and also support holding peaceful general elections in 2023.

“Our politicians must realize that we have no country other than Nigeria. Consequently, this reality should inspire them to take more responsibility in playing politics with the interests of the masses in mind.

“In the same vein, religious leaders must know that there is life after the 2023 general election. Therefore, our speeches and behaviors must be aimed at encouraging our people to build a Nigeria where equity, justice and fairness will prevail feed.

“As we look forward to a better Nigeria, let us continue to pray that the Lord will strengthen our current political leaders to oversee elections and a successful transition to a new government in 2023.

“CAN will continue to work with the government, civil society and development partners to build a peaceful and prosperous country.

“We will remain impartial and will not interfere in the functions of government agencies, but will always promote and support good governance at all levels. However, CAN will continue to raise prophetic voices where necessary.

“Finally, we urge the government to do more to halt the downturn of our economy by controlling the sources of leakages and waste of our national resources in 2023.

“May 2023 be the year of divine reversal in the destiny of our nation in Jesus’ mighty name. Wishing all Nigerians a peaceful and very prosperous New Year.”
