Egan snatches late equaliser as QPR, Sheffield share spoils

By Biodun Busari

John Egan scored with the last kick of the game to give Sheffield United a 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship on Monday night.

Ilias Chair’s deflected effort put QPR ahead on 11 minutes, but Egan equalized for the Blades in the sixth minute of added time.

The draw ended Sheffield United’s five-match winning run, putting them five points behind leaders Burnley.

Egan’s error had put Rangers ahead as he gave the ball away before ricocheting Chair’s shot past his own goalkeeper.

Chair, who played a good game all along, got another good chance soon after, while Billy Sharp came close twice for the Blades on either side of half-time.

The point means Sheffield United are nine points clear of third-placed Blackburn Rovers as they aim to return to the Premier League after relegation in 2021.
