The alleged attack by the Interior Minister and former Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the February 2023 general election, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been described as fake news and a creation from the imagination of nervous politicians bent on slandering the minister to stir up discord between the duo.
A statement signed by Sola Fasure, Aregbesola’s media adviser on Wednesday titled: ‘Jittery politicians afraid of full reconciliation’stated that there is a well-coordinated sinister plot to frustrate the reconciliation efforts championed by notable individuals and other key stakeholders.
“We see a sinister and coordinated effort to frustrate the conciliatory moves being championed by notable stakeholders inside and outside our party to gather all the necessary factors for our party’s success in the February 2023 presidential election.
“Last week, nervous politicians who are the authors of this malicious manuscript paid a handful of rent-a-crowd comedians to respond to a nonexistent ‘attack’ and regurgitate the storyline, intending to spark a series of atonement. frustrate. steps for their selfish interests,” Fasure noted.
The minister’s adviser further stated that a known interest keeps promoting a story that he is attacking or has ever attacked Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as fake news and aimed at defaming his person.
“The social media news circulating is aimed at defaming the person of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola regarding an alleged attack on the person of our party’s presidential candidate, All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This is FAKE news and simply not true.
“We urge well-meaning Nigerians to be wary of the malicious machinations of this fifth column cult whose sole job is to stir discontent, create distractions and sow doubt,” revealed Fasure.
The statement went on to say that the minister is focused on his current ministerial duties and ensuring his party, the APC, emerges victorious in the February 2023 presidential election.
