.Gunmen attack police station

Gunmen suspected of being bandits attacked the Ushafa community in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, killing a man and kidnapping his relatives.

Community sources revealed to Vanguard that the incident occurred around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, sparking tension in the area.

The incident happened behind the LGEA Primary School Ushafa, close to the popular Going Park.

The attackers invaded the area and fired for more than 30 minutes without interruption from any security service.

The deceased allegedly struggled with the gun-wielding captors before being shot.

The attackers took the woman and a cousin to an unknown destination.

Confirming the incident, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adeh said: “On Wednesday, January 11, around 6 am, the police control room received an emergency call that armed thugs stormed Ushafa village through the Bwari area council of the FCT.

“The information was passed on to the Bwari Division Police Station and other command security apparatuses in the area mobilized tactical and intelligence assets on the ground.

“Seeing the officers, the thugs took to their heels after shooting a Benjamin Ogundare and kidnapping the duo of Goodluck Ogundare and Janet Ogundare.

“The victim was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty. Aggressive hunt and rescue mission has been launched on the tails of the crooks as the investigation continues.
