Kaduna Catholic Archdiocese has requested over N100 million from spirited and well-meaning individuals to rebuild its small seminary in Katari, which was razed to the ground by fire

The archdiocese said buildings of St. Peters Minor Seminary school Katari in Kachia Local Government Area of ​​the state were destroyed by fire last Tuesday.

The school’s headmaster, Rev. Father Sati Edward, said that “the fire that started at noon on the fateful day destroyed the fully equipped science laboratory, two blocks of hostels, a dining hall with a capacity of 500 students and an attached kitchen with razed to the ground. 100 million Naira.”

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the destroyed seminary, Rev. Sati explained, “I received a call around 12 noon that day that the hostel was on fire, I immediately called the Archbishop of Kaduna and by the time I came back from the city, youths in the city of Katari were here and tried their best to put out the fire. We noticed a fire in the toilet, while trying to put it off at that time, the archbishop who drove in by that time noticed the fire in the lab and before we moved there the fire was all over the lab building.

“So when the fire started the security men sounded the alarm before the young people rushed in to help us put out the fire, the damage was done but we commended the bravery of the young people who helped put out the fire .”

“We need the help of good citizens, people who care about the Nigeria of tomorrow, so that we can restructure the area,” he said.

The Ditector, Social Communications of the Archdiocese, Rev. Father Stephen Onyema said: “We thank God that no lives were lost, but we lost a lot and we call on all well-meaning citizens to help. We are praying to get funds to restructure the whole place. We may have to completely erect new buildings as they have been badly damaged by fire”.

The archdiocese’s education secretary, Sir John Woje Bagu, said the incident was traumatic and called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the archdiocese with funds to rebuild the seminary.
